Overview

SportsCaster.com’s Game of the Week program gives aspiring student sportscasters the opportunity to gain real broadcast experience while covering high school football in Kansas City. Working alongside local radio partners and experienced on-air talent, students participate in live game coverage, build their portfolios, and develop the skills needed for careers in sports media. Each market is supported by a SportsCaster field team responsible for coordinating with the school, radio partner, and student announcers; managing the halftime and postgame shows; capturing social media content; and ensuring all on-site equipment and recordings run smoothly.

What you'll do

• Team leader – This will be the main contact for the SportsCaster Production Lead, the radio station, students, and the school. This person will be looped in to all communication with students and the radio. They should have an understanding of the area and/or HS football. They will arrive at home field 1 hours prior to the game to help with set up on the field (a “set up” check list will be provided). Will be required to help set up the tent and equipment and break down every night as well as getting it from school to school. Will be required to video touchdowns using their own phone to post to SportsCaster socials. Make sure video recording in the press box and video recording in the tent is a success. They will provide team rosters and rundowns to student sportscasters. They will introduce themselves to the AD of the home field, greet student sportscasters on the field, giving them their credentials, and team rosters to take to the press box. Usher them to the press box to meet radio station play-by-play announcer. Be available to answer any questions. During the half/post game show, they will manage the show flow. A breakdown of this will be provided by the SportsCaster Production Lead. Having a car is required.
